Day 29
Ah, Resurrection Day aka Easter! One of my very favorite days of the year (next to Christmas). This is one day that I am known for eating my share of candy. This year was different. For once in the entire lifetime of my children, I did NOT spend $40+ on candy. I waited until more than half of the day was gone then went to Walgreen’s to pick up everyone’s choice. Everyone, except me, was allowed to choose one kind of candy. I am so proud of myself. I only had 4 mini Snickers (170 calories/9 fat grams), 2 individual Reese’s cups (220 calories/12 fat grams) and 1 marshmallow Peep. Normally, I would have mindlessly eaten as many pieces of candy until I was out of it or until my stomach hurt. Now, a taste of each was more than enough. We even went to McDonald’s for lunch. Before I left home, I researched the nutrition facts online, jotted down a low-calorie, low-fat dinner and took my list with me. Knowing what to order before I arrived helped me to stay focused and I was not even tempted by the pictures on the menu board. I found myself getting very full off of my Premium Select salad (I chose the Asian with grilled chicken) and my Fruit N Yogurt parfait. A diet Coke washed it all down. (540 calories/14 fat grams).
My new lifestyle isn’t bad at all. I am still able to eat out, eat something sweet and still lose weight. It simply takes a little bit of effort to check what I’m putting in my body beforehand. I think I’m worth the effort.

Dear God, thank You for sending Your only Son to die on the cross for my sins. You didn’t have to do it, but You did because You love me. I can never repay You for Your endless mercy and grace. I want You to know that I love You and I appreciate the life You’ve given to me. I want to please You by living a life that will bring You honor. Continue to bless and keep me, Father. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
